Piezo Shockwave Technology

Shock waves are high-energy concentrated sound waves that can be directed to a specific location in your pet’s body. During a Piezo Shockwave treatment, a series of high-pressure acoustic pulses, or sound waves, are passed through a probe into the skin and soft tissue. The waves interact with the cells to reduce pain and help encourage healing. Conditions that this technology can help treat are mostly orthopedic and can include:

• Back pain
• Chronic wounds
• Degenerative disc disease
• Degenerative joint disease
• Hip and elbow dysplasia
• Lick granulomas
• Non- or delayed healing bone fractures
• Osteoarthritis
• Osteochondrosis lesions (OCD)
• Tendon and ligament injuries
• Tendonitis

A treatment with sound waves lasts about five minutes per treatment site, and treatments are spaced about two weeks apart. Your pet should feel little to no pain during the Piezo Shockwave treatment.

Cold Laser Therapy

If a pet has arthritis or a tendon or soft tissue injury, we can use cold laser therapy to help promote healing. Cold laser therapy is a noninvasive procedure that uses light to stimulate cells and increase blood circulation, which promotes healing in pets.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy for pets is being used more in veterinary care to treat:

• Inflammation
• Arthritis
• Infected wounds
• Poisonous bites

The pet is placed in an airtight chamber and is exposed to high levels of pure oxygen. The higher levels of oxygen can penetrate tissues at a higher rate than normal, and the pet’s body uses the oxygen to promote healing.

Aqua Therapy

Aqua therapy (also known as hydrotherapy) for dogs involves the therapeutic use of water to improve health. We have two aqua therapy treadmills, as well as an in-ground pool, which are used during hydrotherapy sessions. Hydrotherapy can help treat:

• ACL injuries
• Metabolic conditions that cause muscle weakness
• Neurological problems
• Orthopedic injuries and conditions
• Post-surgical healing and recovery
• Weight loss

Aqua therapy has your pet walking on an underwater treadmill or swimming in our pool. The water provides buoyancy and resistance, allowing pets to strengthen and condition muscles without putting stress on the joints. Aqua therapy is often used on pets with arthritis or who need to lose a few pounds.
